Liddle, Amundsen, Fryer, Green; Lemon, Moody and Richnan4 Absent: None: Alderman Amundsen introduced the following resolution which was read: "Be it resolved by the Common Council of the City of Rochester; Minn esot a: That 'the said Common Council does hereby assent to and approve the levy of taxes to the amount of Two Hundred and Eighty Thousand Dollars 1$28090000-0 for general school purposes; made by the Board of Edacation of School District No-. 8 of said City on the 1st day of October 1935, on the taxable property within said School District N04 84 " Upon motion by Green second by Fryer that the said resolution be adopt as read, and all voting in favor thereof, President Liddle declared the said resolu- tion duly passed and adopted; Earl Woodhouse, representing the Isaac Walton League, was before the tie Common Council with a request that Trunk -line Sanitary Sewer be extended in Broadway Street South, in order to relieve the pollution in the Zumbro River: The following communication was read, and PreF dent Liddle ordered that the same be placed on file: "November 49 19354 Honorable Mayor and Common Council; Gent 1 emen: At a meeting of the Board of Trustees of the Rochester Tdre Dept: Relief Ass'n held on October.24, 1935: The application of Dick Ryan, for a loan of $50000 for repairs on his home at 615 4th St. S. E., was read. A motion was made by Dillon and second by Burke that Dick Ryan, be loaned $500400 on a 1st Mortgage which makes a total of $2,000 Mr. Ryan having been loaned $1500:00 on a previous loan, said loan to be paid in monthly instalments bearing interest at 5% .computed semi-annually until said debt is paid in full Respectfully submitted, P et er S. "WffEREAS, under date of May 18, 19349 the Public Utility Board did, by resolution, ask the Common Council of the City of Rochester, Minnesota, to authorize a payment of 01,0890,10 to Schuett-Meier Company as peyment for a preliminary engineering study of the City ,Light Plant building and did further ask the Common Council for authority to enter into an agreement with the said Schu ett-Mei er Company engaging them as architects for . the Addition to the City Light Plant Building at an amount not .to exceed $49500400, and 117TEAR, the total amount of charges by the Schuett-Meier Company, in addtion to O1,089.101 amount to $69047:34 T11FREFORF9 be and it is hereby resolved by the said Public Utility Board that the Honorable Common Council be,and is hereby.reVested to authorize the additional expenditure and to authorize the payment of 32,097:34 as full and final pa.�ment to %-the- said Company." The following communication was read,' and President Liddle re- ferred the same.to the Sewer Committee, the City Engineer, the City Attorn(y and the Public Utility Board, to work out plans whereby this improvement could b e made: "November 49 19354 Hon. I earnestly recommend that the City remonstrate against the filling up of the old natural channel of Bear Creek at whatli s known as the Water WOrk s Bridge. This Bridge opening is equal to 250 ft: in area, and is of great value in time of flood, being equal to 25% of the area of the New Bear Creek Bri Should it be decided to allow the filling of this natural channel, I suggest the placing of 9 lines of 5 ft4 pipe in the present channel.
