Rochester, Minnesota, held in the Council Chambers,in the City Hall, in said Oity, at 5:00 o' cloc$ P. M. on December 31, 1935 Meeting called to order by President Liddle. Roll Call. Present: Liddle, Amundsen, Fryer., Green, Leon, ! Moody and Richman. Absent: None: I The call for the special meeting was read, and President Liddle ordered that the same be placed on file, said meeting having been called f II for the purpose of action on the request of the Library Board, for delay II� of one month in holding the election 'scheduled for January 21, 1936, and other any the business the said Common Council may deem proper The following cammunication was read, and President Liddle ordezdd 4hat., the same be placed on. file: "Rochester Public Library y - Rochest er, Minnesota: December" 30, 1935. To the Honorable Mayor and Common Council, City of Rochester, Minnesota, Gentlemen: At a special meeting of the Library Board on Saturday afternoon, December 28, the following resolution was passed: RESOLVED: That the Library Board petition the Honorable Common Council to postpone the bond election for the Library, set for January 21, 1936, for one month to enable the Library Board to make final efforts to procure P.W.A..money, or, if necessary, make pre- parations for said proposed bond election at the later date: May it please your Honorable body to give this matter your immediate attention. " I 443 Alderman Lemmon introduced the following resolution, which was read: "Be it resolved by the Common Council of the City of Rochester, �I I Minnesota: � Ij That the resolution entitled, '"Resolution determining to issue City. of Rochester, Minnesota, Improvement Bonds in the aggregrate amount of Seventy I Five Thousand Doll ars($759000.00) for the purpose of building a new Library i i jBuilding within said City$ subject to the approval of the legal vot er s of said Cityq" and the resolution entitled., "Resolution calling a Special Election to be held on Tuesday, January 21st, 1936, for submission to the legal voters i of the City of Rochester, Minnesota, for approval or rejection of the resole-- tion of the Common Council of December 16th, 1935; and the issuance of City of j IRochester, Minnesota- Improvement Bonds in the aggregrate amount of $75,000L00 , i and prescribing the form of notice of Election and ballot to be used at said Election'." Both of which resolutions were passed and adopted by the Common j Council of the City of Rochester, Minnesota, the 16th day of December, 1935; i i and duly approved by the. Mayor on the 21st day of December, 19359 be and the same are hereby repealed in their entirety. " i i Upon motion by Green second by Ricbman, that the said resolution be j adopted as read, and all voting in favor thereof; President Liddle declared the said resolution duly passed and adopted: I Alderman Lemmon introduced a resolution determining to issue City of F I Rochester, Minnesota Improvement Bonds, in the aggregrate amount of $751000*001, I i for the purpose of building a new Library Building, within said City, subject to the approval of the legal voters of said City, which was read4 Upon motion by Amundsen second by Moody, that the said resolution be adopted as read, and all voting in favor thereof, President Liddle declared the said IIresolution duly passed and adopted. Alderman Fryer introduced a resolution calling a Special Election, to be held on the twenty-fifth day of March, 19359 for submission to the legal voters of the City of Rochester, Minnesota, for approval or rejection, of the resolution by the Common Council cmi' December 319 1935, and the issuance of the City of Rocheste, Minnesota 'Improvement Bonds, in the aggregrate amount of $759-000:009 @Ad prescribing se form of notice of election and ballot to be used at said election, wh:Uah was r eade, Upon motion by Green, second by Richman, that the said esolution e adopted as read, and all voting in favor thereof, President Liddle del r - Ielared the said resolution duly passed and adopted. The following caa=unication was read, and President Liddle ordered hat that the same be placed on file: "December 31, 1935 Ron. Mayor & Common Council: Gent 1 em en: I beg to request that $2,000.00 be appropriated to the Street & Alley Fund, and 11,000.00 to the Sewer Pund, for use of the Street & Alley Committee: Respectfully Edward L . Anderson Assistant City Engineer. " Alderman Fryer introduced a resolution appropriating $20000400 from the Street and Alley Fund, and ; 1,00040 from the Sewer Fund, , for use of the Street and Alley Committee, which was read: Upon motion by Amundsen second by Moody, that the said resolution be adopted as read, and all voting in f,6vor thereof, President Liddle declared the said .resolution duly passed and adopt edi Alderman Amundsen introduced a resolution appropriating $2,000.OD Ifrom Code 20 of the General Fund, and ordering payment made to Code 10 lof the Street and Alley Fund, as a temporary transFer, to make funds javailable for snow removal% which was read: Upon motion by Fryer second by Amundsen, that the said resolu- tion be adopted as read, and all voting in favor thereof, President Liddle II 4_45 declared the said resolution duly passed and adopted: In the discussion of possible funds in various budget divisions for transfer to cover snow• removal, it was revealdd that repairs to the bituminous 1 treatment on First Street Southeast, were to be paid fog* from the general maintenance division• of the Street and Alley Fund, at which Alderman Mpody expressed himself as being very much opposed to the City of Rochester paying for any of the repairs to the bituminous treatment; as the same were.necessar# immediately after the treatment was done: Upon motion by Richman second by Fryer, that- Common -:Council adjourned: i City Clerk: a 0 r
