Dear Mr. Anderson: - "Minn eapoli s, Minn: J art ary 18, 1936, After examining the Report on Sewer ImprovP.anents ;n:,.deir.. February 1932 by Burns & ?:IcDonnell Engineering Co. I am of the opinion that. it ?could not be %advisable; at least -without further study, to,ratse the sewer line approximately five feet at Droadway and 3rd. As I understand the engineers report the lower sewer line i'roul.d have the following three distinct advantages for the southeast e,rea: 1-A greater Brea could be served by gravity sewers. N - The construction of R-7 would relieve the sewers to the north of loth street. The sewers now built north of loth street are large enourrh for that area but, are not large enough to toke care of much expansion of the city south of loth street: 3 - The elimination . of the pumping, plant by building sewer R-8. It is probable according to my notes that the pumping station loco ed west of Broadway could be eliminated by adjusting the grade lines of gravity sewers even though the main sewer on Broadway ;eras raised. This should be in- vestigated in some detail however before the main sewer on Broadway wes constructed. IV, woul. d be advisable to run. levels s ,nd definitely determine what areas could be served by gravity sewer $ It is possible that some changes could be made in the grade of the trunk line sewer on Broadway and $till pro- vide gravity sewers for a sufficient area. Every inch counts when excavating in rock. Yours very truly, F. C.
