M: on February 17, 1936: Meeting called to order by President Liddley i Roll. Call. Present: Liddle, Amundsen, Fryer, Green, Lemmon- Moody and Richman. Absent: None. Upon motion i y Green second by Amundsen, the minutes of the meetings held December 16, 23, 27, 319 January 6 and 20, and February 3, , 1936; were each approved: Mrs. George Allen re esen in ,I g + Pr , t g the Civic League, was before the Common Council in regard to a request by the Civic League, for the use of their rooms in the Qity Hall, and Mrs.. Allen asked that the Common i 060oil acknowledge this request and not take any action at this time li I � I' due to the fact that it would work a hardship upon the National Reemploy- ment Office, which is now occupying the Civic League rooms in the City Hall. i i Upon motion by Green second by Richman, end all voting in favor I they eof, the action taken January 20th, 1936 instructing the City Clerk alto notify the National Reemployment Office to vacate the Civic League , rooms) was rescinded. Spillane, as Attorney for the On -Sale Liquor Dealers iAssociation, PrAsented and read a lengthy communication requesting in changes numerous � g the liquor ordinance,, -and the ordinance regulating !the licensing and sale of non-dntoxicating meat liquors, and President 4 iddle referred the same to the Common Council as a Committee of the whole for consideration: I I President Liddle announabd this as being the time and place fixed for hearing on the construction of a sanitary sewer- in Thirteenth enue Northeast, from Center Street East to the Chicago Northwestern IVailroad Tracks, and asked if there were any person present who wished to D05 be heard relative thereto. The report of the City- Weighmaster for the month of January 1936:,. showing weighing fees collected in the amount of $29.00, was read, and `President Liddle referred the same to 'the Finance `Corffnittee. The report of the Milk Inspector for the month of January 19369 was read, and Bresident Liddle ordered that the same be placed on file. i The statistical report of the Public Library for the year ending December 319 1935, was read, and President Liddle ordered that the same be placed on file. The financial. statement, prepared by Charles F. The report of the. City Treasurer for the month ending January 1936, showing e.!°bslance on hand of $3189945.75, was read, and President iddle ordered that the same be placed on file. The official bond of Arnold N Anderson as patrolman with the delity and Casualty Company, as surety thereon in the amount of -0500.00 s read, and upon motion by' Lemon second by Amundsen, the :surety thereon s accepted, the said bond was approved, and it was ordered that the same I placed on file. Schwartz & Igo, for the sum of $540500-00 which was the r lowest amount bid in all of the proposals received: Upon motions duly seconded and adopted, a resolution, a copy of which is attached to this letters was adopted awarding the contract to G. Schwartz & Co. and instructing the Secretary to request the Honorable Mayor and Common council for authority to enter into a contract with the said G. Schwartz & Co. The Board of Park Commissioners respectfully request authority to enter into a contract with G. Council of the City of Rochester, Minnesota, which is to be held in the Council Chambers, in the City Hall, in said City, at 7:30 o'clock P. M. , on March 11, 19364 Each bid must be apeompanied by a certified check upon some reputable bank, drawn payable to the Mayor of the City of Rochester, Minnesota, fnrat least 10% of the amount of the bid proposed, which check and the amount of money specified therein shall be forfeited to the City of Rochestei Minnesota, if the bidder; upon the letting of the contract to him, shall fail to enter into the contract to let; the said Common Council reserving{:the right to reject any and all bidsi A surety bond guaranteeing performance of the contract, written for the full amount of t1le contract by. a surety company authorized to do business in the State of Minnesota, will be required with the contract.
