from the Restaurant Owners AssOc_iati,on of the City of Rochester, urging
that the restaurants be allowed to sell 342 beer with their meals, 9.s has
been done in the past, and that thefees for this privilege be not raised

James F4 O'Brien, representing the non -intoxicating malt liquors
dealers urged that the Ordinance governing the sale and licensing of non -
intoxicating malt liquors be' unchanged at this time, except for a reasonable
raise in the license fee for on -sale places where dancing is carried on®
Alderman Lemon came in at this time and took his chair,2

hearing on the construction of sanitary sewer in Thirteenth, Avenue North-

That the bid and prppogal of Maass & McAndrew Co. Inc: for the fur-
nishing of all labor, material, equipment etc. , necessary for the construction
of a sanitary sewer in Thirteenth Avenue Northeast from Center Street East to
the Chicago Northwestern Railroad tracks, in accordance with plans, profiles
and specifications for.the said sanitary sewer, which are now on file in the
office of the City Clerk of said City, viz:

the City of Rochester, Minnesota, the following described tract of land which

a. place, of beginning, running thence north .to the northwest corner of

flooding the land conveyed by the Rochester Cemetery Association to
the City, to be used as a part of Silver Lakes

Trinity Lutheran Church, that the majority of said Council do not feel that they wish
to :approve of a business of this kind at this location due to the fact that it is so

Council went on record as not favoring the granting of any liquor license at 117 First
Avenue N. W.

"Be it resolved by the Common Council of the City of Rochester,
Minnesota:
That the resolution entitled. "Resolution determining to issue City
Rochester, minnesotq.91 Improvement Bonds in the aggregrate amount of seventy
five thousand dollars (075,000�00) for the purpose of building a new Library
Building within haid City, subject t 4 the approval of the legal voters of said
City, "and the resolution entitled, "Resolution calling a special election
to be held on March 25th, 19369 for submission to the legal voters of the
City of Rochester,. Minnesota, forapproval or rejection of the resolution of
the Common Council of December 31st, 1935, and the issuance of the City of
Roohester, Minnesota" Improvement Bonds in the aggregrate amount of Seventy
Five Thousand Dollars snd prescribing the form of notice of election and
ballot to be used at said election% t-oth of which resolutions were passed
and adopted by the Common Council of the City- of Rochester, Minnesota, the

NUFREA810 it is deemed expedient and necessary that 160 tons to 300 ton
of Calcium Chloride be�purchased for treating of streets; avenues, and alleys
during the sprinklingseason of the year 1936, and
WHEREAS, the City Engineer has prepared specifications and estimate
of cost for the furnishing of the said Calcium Chloride4
SO THEREFORE, Be it resolved by the Common Council of the City of
Rochester, Minnesota: '
That 180 to 300 tons of calcium chloride be purchased; that the said
specifice,tions be adopted for the purchase of the said calcium chloride; that
-the same be placedon file in the office of the City Clerk of said City; and
that the said estimate of cost be accepted and placed on file in the office of
the City Clerk of said City, and
Be it further resolved by the said Common Council: That the City
Clerk'of said City be and she is hereby authorized and directed to advertise
for sealed proposals for the :furnishing of 180 tons to 300 tons of calcium
chloride, ^.O.B. Rochester, Minnesota, which sealed bids will be received and
opened at a meeting of this Common Council which is to be held at 7:30 o'clock P
on March 30th, 1936. Each (;bid- must be accompanied by a certified check upon
some reputable band drain payable to the Meyor of Rochester, Minnesota, for at
least 10 per cent of the amount of the bid, which check and the amount of money
specified therein shall be forfeited to the City of Rochester, Minnesota, as
liquidated damages if the bidder upon the letting of the contract to him

Alderman Moody requested that the members of the Common Council and the;
� Mayor_ be present at the meeting of the Public Utility Board to be held March 12, 1936;
at eight o'clock P� Ms for the opening of bids for the turbine and generator at the
Electric Light Plant, at which Alderman Lemmox stated that IN his opinion it would be
better if the Council metwith the Utility Board at the actual letting of the contract
instead of the opening of the bids4
Alderman Moody orally reported on his trip to the League of Minnesota
Municipalities tax convention held in Minneapolis March 6th and 7th, 1936a
