601 'APR 61936 Minutes of a regular meeting of the Common Council. s of the City of Rochester, Minnesotq,., held in the Council Chambers, in the City Hall., in said City., at 2 0' Clock P. M.,, on April 6th, 1936: Meeting was called to order by, President Liddle: , ' Roll C811' Present: Liddle, Amundsen, Fryer, Green, Lemmon, Moody, Richman: Absent: None. The applications of S. T. Cadwell, Knute Olson, Amiel, L. Glabe't and Lillian R. Sveom, for appointment as City Clerk, the application of Lillian R. Sveom heing accompanied b3i a letter from the Business and Professional Womens' Club urging that she be. reappointed as City Clerk, and the application of Lester Goetting for' a posltix)n in the office of the City. C1 erk , were each read. Upon motion by Lemmon, second by Fryer, and all voting in favor thereof, wxcepting Alderman Moody, who did not vote, Amie)- L. Smith for appointment as City Engineer were each r ead4 Upon Alderman Green', s motion that Arleigh Co Smith be appointed City Engineer, Alderman Moody questioned Smith's qualifications as Engineer and also when he would have hAts residenne established in Rochester, in order to qualify. Alderman Moody also asked why it was necessary to go out of town for an Engineer, whdn there were qualified local applicants for the position, namely Walter Hogenson and Edward L. Anderson.
