The meeting was called to order by President Twiddle at 7:30 o'clock
P. M., and on roll call the following members were presented: Liddle, Amundsen,
Fryer, Green, Lemmon$ Moody, and Richman. Abs-t= None:
Due to the extreme heat, Alderman Amundsen moved that the meeting
be adjourned to the Community Room; motion seconded by Aldermen Richman; all mem-
bers being present voting in favor thereof•
On motion by Moody second by Amundsen, the minutes of the meeting
of July 6, 1936 were approved:

President Liddle announced this as being the time and place fixed
1 for hearing on the bituminous treatment of Secbn3i Street Northwest from Tvelfth
i Avenue Northwest to Sixteenth (venue Northwest; and asked if anyone present wished
�!to be heard concerning said improvement. There was no one present w4 wished to
be heard concerning the improvement as above described:
A petition signed by Broil J. Rousseau; Alfred Anderson, Paul
Rubow, Leonard Schoonover, Henry Butruff; Thomas Walker and V I. Ranson asking
the Council to oil Fourteenth Street Northeast, and a petition signed by
L. R. Cl abough, Henry Wanket Charles Ihrk e, Will Sl. att erly; C eorge Mulholland,
Leo Mulholland, S. C. Decker, Gedrge R. Lovejoy, and i?oward W. Bl.eldely, asking
the Council to sprinkle Ninth Place Southeast ere each presented and. separately

Alderman Green introduced the following resolution, which was read:
"Be it resolved by the Common Council of the City of Rochester, Minnesota:
That the said Common Council does hereby determine that the streets j
and avenues and parts of streets and avenues in said City, hereinafter des-cf°ibdd
shall be hprihkled with water during the balance of the season of the year 1936,
and a part of the coast and expense of the said sprinkling is to be assessed against
the several lots, pieces and parcels of land abutting upon said streets as herein-
after described, provided, however, that in lieu of the said sprinkling with water,
any part or parts of the said streets or avenues, may be treated with calcium chloride
or any other approved dust .preventive.
Said streets and -avenues and parts, of, streets and avenues are as follows:
Nurteenth Street Northeast
Ninth Place Southeast
The said sprinkling or treating shall be commenced on the first day of
Au&ust 1936, and shall be continued until the first day of November 19361 All said
streets and avenues shall be sprinkled or treated to the full width between the
curb lines, if necessary:
Be it further resolved by the said Common Council: That the following is
a stat o-a; :�A of the share of the cost for the said sprinkling or treating which
will be levied against the property abutting upon the. streets and avenues described
therein, .with the balance of the costar and expenses of the doing of the work and
furnishing of all the water for the sprinkling of each said street or avefte or
parts thereof, or the treating thereof with calcium chloride or any other approved
dust pr event ive- to be. paid for from general taxation;'

j De it further resolved by the said Common Councils That, a public meeting
of the Common Council will be held on the 27th day of July; 19369 at 7:30 o'clock
P. M. , in the Council Chambers , in the City Hall,. in s .id City; at which time and

_-the City Clerk is hereby directed to publish a ntice of the time and place
of said meetinFand hearing in the official newspaper of said City at least ten days
prior t o the date 'of said meeting and hearing. At said meeting the Common Council
will determine whether to let said sprinkling and treating to be done under contract
or employ the neces_ary teams and labor and furnish all materials for said sprinkling
:and treating and order the same done under the supervision of the City Engineer of
said City."

The City Clerk reported the receipt of 191:81 from the Franklin
eating Station as one-half cent per M on 18361;000 cu: ft. 0';nuoural gas used
here during June 1936:

Alderman Richman introduced the following resolutions which was read:
IIIIMMIEAS, the Common Council of the City of Rochester, Minnesota; deem
it expedient and necessary that local public improvements, the cost and expense of
which shall be paid by special assessments levied as provided by law, be made in
said City of iochester, Minnesota, the said improvement being described as follows:
The construction of a sanitary sewer in Fifth Street Northeast from Broad-
way to 130 ft : East
SO T-IMEr"ORE, Be it resolved by the Common Council of the City of Rochestei
Minnesota:
That a public hearing of all persons and parties interested in said im-
provement will be held at 7:30 o'clock P: M. on July 279 1936, in the Council Cham-
bers , in the City Halls in said City; at which time and place the persons and partieE
interested in the said improvement may appear and be heard by said Common Council
in relation to the said improvement.
The City Clerk of *said City is hereby authorized and directed to cause
to be published in the official newspaper of said City, a notice to all interested

Alderman Anundsen introduced a resolution appropriating $239:40,

Alderman Fryer introduced a resolution appropriating 01166:10 from
the Park Improvanent Fand, and ofBering payment made to the Mayo Trust Fund, for
payroll for labor for the week ending July 109 1936, which was read.

adopted as read, and all voting, in favor thereof, President Liddle declared the

Alderman Moody introduced a resolution appropriating 0234:18 from
the General Fund, and ordering payment made to the State of. Minnesota Oil In-
spection Division for Inspection Fee 03018, and. State Tax -1231:00 on 7936 gall
of gasoline furnished in car TAX 364, lens 3� for evaporation and shrinkage,
which was read:
