M. by President addle, and on roll call, the Following members were present: Liddle, AmundsM Fryer, Green, Lemon, Moody, and Richman. Absent: Noneo on motion by Amundsen sdcond by Richman; the minutes of the meeti:gs held September 149 169 249 and- 25, 1936 were approved: This being the time and place set for hearing on the appeal of. John CV, Claussen, from the decision of the Building Inspector in refusing to issue a permit for the erection of a private garage at 504 North Broadway; President Liddle asked if anyone present wished to be heard. There was no one present to be heard The_ Citizens Committee represented by, Ernest Schlitgus; Ray Austin, and Roy Kingrey appeared before the Council with a regaest that the sum of 045000 be authorized through the Polite Department to provide'meens for the curbing of crime and property damage on the night of October 31: On motion by Lemon second by Fryer the Chief of Police was auth- orized to incur bills to the extent of $45040 to assist the Citizens Com- mittee in arranging for entertainment to prevent the commission of crime and erty damage on the night of October 31; A protest signed by George M. Alseth; L: C. Miller, Arthur Ai erman, Walter Welch, Alma J: Dauewick, E. J Branley; Edward H. .Coon, A. C. Lawler, and C. M. Judd, against the construction of a sidewalk on the south side of Sixth Syreet Southwest; .from Tenth Avenue Southwest to Fifteenth Avenue Southwest, was presented by George M. The report of the City Engineer for *the month of September showing dis- bursements for labor from the General Fund $755t15; from the Street and Ali ey.:Ftnd $150357; and from the Bower Fund $469,487; was read, and President Liddle ordered t IIthe same be placed, on file: The reports of the Northern Natural Gas Company on gas tests taken at Sioux City; Iowa; showing an average BTU for the week ends g�9 of 1003, for the week ending September 16 of 1011, and for the week ending September 23 of 1003, were read. The reports of the City Weighmast er for the month of September 19369 show- ing weigh'-,ing fees collected in the amount of $1&70; was read, and President Liddle referred the same to the Finance Committees A request from the City Engineer for an appropriation of $2'000:00 from the Street and Alley Fund for use of:the Street and Alley Committee was read, and President Liddle ordered that the same be placed on file: A Committee report regarding the State Highway Department assuming a part R of the costs of repaving Broadway from the Chicago Northwestern Railway tracks to Fourth Street Southwest; was read, and President Liddle ordered that the same be place on file4 The Committee;to whom the request of the National Youth .Administration for se of the second story building known as the Williams property, was referred$ filed a written report that in their opinion the benefit derived would .not warrant the ex- penditure necessary to remodel said buil#ng. and remove fire hazards: President addle ordered said'report placed on files 'The following communi cation" was read: - "To the Mayor and Honorable' Common Council, I and to the Park Board of the City of Rochester; Minnesot a: PLEASE TAKE NOTICE that on the Sth day' of Sept enb er 1936 at about 4 P.
