Spon motion by Amundsen second by Richman, the minutes of the
meetings of July 5th and 6th, were approved:
Dr. TB.Magath, City Health Officer, was before the Council; and
gave a report of the progress of the Board of Health and Welfare.
The report of the clerk of the Municipal Court, for the week ending
July 5th919379 showing criminal fines.and costs collected $355:009 civil
fees received $17610, conciliation court fees $1 50,; for the week ending
July 12th, showing criminal fines and costs collected 1403:009 civil fees
received $180,45, conciliation court fees $3.00) for the week ending July
19th, showing criminal fines and costs collected $211420 9 civil fees
received $25.75, conciliation court fees received $5:75, and for the
week ending July 26th,19379 showing criminal fines and costs collected

Attorney, President Liddle ordered that the same be placed on file
An emergency order signed by W;A�Moore Mayor, authorizing
1;Louis J. Claude, Chief of Police, to enter into a contract with the

Gamewell Company to repair, overhaul, and place in first class working
I!condition, the Police signal system, for a sum of $1185.00, was read, and
!;President Liddle ordered that the same be placed on file.
A communication from Arlei:;h C. gnith, City Engineer, recommending
that Bert Adler, Edward Fallon, and Clifford Fauver, be placed on the
Engineer's payroll at a monthly rate of $123: 76 each, was read, and

President Liddle ordered that the same be placed on file.
On motion by Fryer second by Richman, the City Engineer was authorized
to place Bert Adler, Edward Fallon, and Clifford Fauver on the Engineer's payroll
' at a monthly rate of $123.76 per month.
A copy of resolution adopted by the Band Committee requestjn,., t,>lat,
W. D. Dublin be added to the personell of the Rochester Park Orchestra, for thv last
i'ro weeks of the 1937 season at 4 salary of $100-00 per week, was read, and on
motion by Green second ty Fryer, the said request was approved.
A notice of claim for damages in the amount of 8500.009 si:=;ned by
L.M.Sturdevent, was read, and President Liddle referred -the same to the City Attorney.
John W. Young, was before the Council regarding a petition -for bitumin-
ous ;
treatment of .Sixth Avenue Southwest, from Ninth Street Southwest to Eleventh

Street ,Southwest, and on motion by Amundsen second by Richman, the City Clerk was
instructed to prepare the necessary resolutions to be presented at the next
Council meeting for the improvement osaid street.
An application signed by Wm. W. Green, for a plumber'-s license,

together with a surety bond in the sum of $11000.00 with the National Surety Corporate on
of New York, as surety, were each separately read, and on motion by Richman, second
by Amundsen, the license was granted, the bond approved, the surety thereon
accepted,. and it was ordered that the bond be placed on file.
Applications signed by M. Be Kaehler, Cecil E.B rown,.and Iviike Caffes,
for soft drink dealers licenses were each separately read, and on motion by Moody
second by Fryer, licenses were granted.
An application signed by Andrew C. Chafoulias, for a license to have in
possession and operate one so-called pin ball device under ordinance No.509, at No. }
9 North, Broadway, and an application signed by Clayton D. Lyke, for a license to
leave in possession and operate two so-called pin ball devices under ordinance No.509 '.
at 626 Fourth Street Southeast, were each separately read, and on motion by Green,
second by Richman, licenses were granted.
An application signed by the Rock ester Bus line, for a license to
o Aerate a 21 passenger Yellow coach, carrting State License No.503,5491. was
read, and on motion by Amundsen second by Moody, license was granted.

surety, were each separately read, and on motion by Moody second by Richman,

Petitions for oiling Fifth Street Northwest, from First Avenue

to Fourth Avenue Northwest; Ninth Street Northeast, from Broadway to
j Second Avenue Northeast, and Second Street Northeast, from Eleventh Avenue
to Fourteenth Avenue Northeast, were each separately read, and President
i! Liddle referred the same to the Street and Alley Committee

jj A petition asking that sidewalk be constructed on the west side
i
of Ninth Avenue Southeast, from Tenth Street to Eleventh Street Southeast, was
read, and President Liddle referred the same to the Street and Alley
Committ ee.
Petitions asking that Bituminous treatment be applied on
Sixth Avenue Southwest, from Center Street to Second Street Southwest,
and on Fourth Avenue Northwest, from Center Street to First Street Northwest,
were read, and President Liddle referred the same to the Street and Alley
Committee.
Alderman Moody was excused at this time.

by Amundsen, and all voting in favor thereof, the same were allowed, and the
Mayor and City Clerk were authorized and directed to drew warrants upon
the City Treasurer and make payments accordingly:

'Alderman Lemmon introduced a resolution approving the action of
the Pui lic Utility 'Board in entering into a contract with the 'Rayes Lucas

Upon motion by Lemmon second by Green, that the said resolution
be adopted as read, and all voting in favor thereof, President Liddle
declared the said resolution duly passed and adopted.
The City Engineer and the City Building Inspector, submitted plans,
profiles, specifications ,anal estimate of cost for a garage building at
the Sewage Disposal Plant, said estimate of cost being $1500 00.
Alderman Lemmon introduced a resolution accepting the plans,
specifications and estimate of cost for a garage building at the Sewage
Disposal Plant, and ordering that the same 'be placed on file in -thd office
of the City Clerk, and authorizing and directing the City Clerk to
advertise for bids far the furnishing of all -labor, and material for the
construction of said garage according -to said plans and specifications,

said bids to be received and opened at 7: 30 o' clock P.M. , on August 16th, .which
was read.
Upon motion by Fryer second by Richman, that the said resolution be
adopted as read, and all voting in favor thereof, President Liddle declared the said
resolution duly passed and adopted.
Alderman Fryer introduced a resolution ordering hearing on the sprinkling
11 or oiling of additional streets for the remainder of the 1937 sprinkling season, which
was read.

Alderman Lewinon introduced a resolution appropriating $275.60 from the
Fire Protection Fund and ordering payment made to the Winona Machine and Foundry
Company for 26 fire alarm boxes and bracket supports for fire alarm system,which
I was read.

Alderman Green introduced a resolution appropriating $265.99 from the
Park Improvement Fund and ordering payment made to the Maass & McAndrew Company,
Bor supplies and labor for Slatterly Park rest room$ which was read;

Alderman Green introduced a resolution appropriating 01?283.00 from the

for Lighting public buildings, in accordance with the July 25th,1937,billings,which

Alderman Green introduced a resolution appropriating $449.33

from the Street and Alley Fund, and $7.71 from the 'I-eneral 'Fund and`

Parts Company for parts and repairs during May,19379which was read.
Upon motion by Lem mon second by' Amundsen, that the said resolution
be adopted as read, and all voting in favor thereof, President Liddle
declared the said resolution duly passed and adopted.
Alderman fryer introduced a resolution appropriating
$2255 80 from the Park Improvement Fund and ordering payment *Wade to the
Mayo Trust Fund for payrolls for labor during the half month. ending
July 15th,1937,which. was read.
Upon motion by Green second by Richman that the said resolution

be adopted as read, and all voting in favor thereof, President Liddle
declared the said resolution duly passed and adopted.
Alderman Fryer introduced a resolution appropriating $275.10 from
the Street and Alley Fund and ordering payment made to the %Ieneral Fund,
for gasoline furnished from the City Filling Station, which was read.
Upon motion by Richman second by Amundsen,that the said resolution
be adopted as read, and all voting in favor thereof, President Liddle de-
clared the said resolution duly passed and adopted.
Alderman Fryer introduced a resolution appropriating $411.17
from Code 20 of the General Fund for payment to Code 28 of the :,��eneral
Fund for gasoline furnished from the City Filling Station,which was read.
Upon motion by Lemmon second by Fryer, that the said resolution
be adopted as read, and all voting in favor thereof, President Liddle
declared the said resolution duly passed and adopted.
Alderman Amundsen introduced a resolution appropriating `,590.35
from the Sewer Fund for pa-nnent to the City of Rochester, Light and Water I.
Departments, for electricity, power and water, furnished at the Sewage Dis-
posal Plant and the Sewage Lift Station, in accordance with the July 25th, ,
1937, billings, which was read.

Upon motion by Richman second by Lemmon, that the said resolution be
adopted as read, and all voting in favor thereof, President Liddle declared the said
resolution duly passed and adopted.
i Alderman .Amundsen introduced a resolution appropriating $934.62 from
the street and Alley Fund to the Street and Alley Fund, and $1495415 from the General
Fund to the General Fund for use of equipment during June, 19379which was read.

Alderman Amundsen introduced a resolution appropriating $93.37 from
the Sewer Fund and $189058 ftom the Street and Alley Fund for payment to the Hayes
Lucas Lumber Company, for sewer tile furnished in accordance with sworn billing of
July 22nd,19379which was read.
Upon motion by Lemmon second by Green,that the said resolution be

Alderman Richman introduced a resolution appropriating $$600.00 from the
Park Improvement Fund and ordering payment made to the Botsford Lumber Company for
contract price for mill work at Club House for Soldier Field, which was read

Alderman Richman introduced a resolution appropriating $336 84 from the
Park Improvement Fund and ordering payment made to the City of Rochester, Light and

ance with the July 25th,1937,billings ,which was read.
Upon motion by Amundsen second by Richman, that the said resolution be
adopted as read, and all voting in favor thereo-f', President Liddle declared the said
resolution duly passed and adopted:

Harold Thompson, President of the Park Board was before the Council
i
regarding funds for oiling park drives in Silver Lake park, and also regarding the
use of poles and lights belonging to the Public Utility Board in Silver Lake Park.

Upon motion by Richman second by Fryer, the City Clerk was instructed to
prepare a resolution to be presented at the next Council meeting trans-
ferring the sum of $300.00 from Cdde 18 of the General Fund to the Park
Improvement Fund, to make funds available for oiling park drives in Silver
Lake Park.
Upon motion by Fryer second by Richman the City Clerk was instruct-
ed to notify the Public Utility Board that it was the wish of the Council
that said Public Utility Board turn on lights and leave the equipment
i! in Silver Lake Park, which now belongs to said Public Utility Board.
Arthur E.Reiter was before the Council regarding the closing of
!i that portion of Seventh Street Southwest which lies between Ninth Avenue
i
and Tenth Avenue Southwest,, and President Liddle referred the same to the
I!
Street and Alley Committee, the City Engineer, and the City Attorney,

!' ment. of Mrs. T.R.Lawler, Dr. GeoZoEusterman, and Dr. G,P;iSheridan, as

members of the Public Library Board for a term of three years, ending on
the third Saturday of July, 1940, was read, and on motion by Richman
