The Sewer Committee -of -the Common Council and the City Engineer, to
whom the matter of purchasing a sewer steamer had been referred to at the meeting; of
the Cotmnon Council held November 29th, reported that bids had been received from
wm. He -.Ziegler -.Company for the furnishing of one Bro:.;. model 1A, high pressure
boiler for the sum of 01588 00 less $30:00 trade in allowance bn old boiler, also
bid from Thorman W.Rosholt Company for one Cleaver -Brooks heater for the sum of
$1555400, less 2% in 30 days, and an allowance of $25.00 for the old steamer.
• In connection with the above bids the Sewer Committee and the City
II Engineer submitted :he following report:

Gentlemen:
The Sewer Committee and the City Engineer recommend that the

purchase of one Bros Model 1 A high pressure portable steam boiler in the
amount of :,158800 less 2 and a3000 allowance on old boiler a total
amount of .11526:24 be purchased from the wm. H.. Ziegler & Co.
The Committee also recommends that the Model 1-A High pressure
portable boiler be purchased in preference to the Model 1, it being 26 horse
power against 20 horse power for the> additional sum of 150.00.

Mr Joe Strief was before the Council representing a number of persons
residing on Third Avenue Northwest, and entered a protest in behalf of said people
regarding the sale of a part of Outlot 5 Northern Addition to Kris Nielson.
Upon motion by Lemmon second by Amundsen the matter of the sale of the
north half .of that part of Outlot 5 Northern ,Addition which lies east of the road,
was deferred until the next meeting of the Common Council;
The report of the Clerk of the Municipal Court for the week ending
November 29th, showing criminal fines and costs collected 014.40, civil fees receiv d
�_I �4 00, conciliation court fees received '84 50, and check from Olmsted County ti107:9 ,
was read, and having been previously approved.by the City Attogney, President Liddl
ordered that the same be placed on file.
The report for the month of.November, of the Building,Flectrical and
Plumbing Inspector, showing building permits issued $55 00, Electrical Permits
$25.25, and Plumbing Permits $50.00, was read, and President Liddle referred the

The report of the City Engineer ,.for the month of November, showing
disbursements for labor from the General Fund $416.78, from the Street
°x Alley Fund $1715.64. fTnm the Sewer Fund $930.18, and from the Bridge
Fund .76, was read, .and President Liddle ordered that the same be placed

A communicationnfnom the Finance Committee recommending that the
application of Carl L-ee for an additional loan of $300:00 from the Rgches-
ter Firemen's Relief Association be approved, also recommending that
the Soard of Trustees be authorized to purchase $5,0004-00 United States
government savings bonds, was read, and `on motion by Richman second
by Amundsen said report was approved:
A communication from Peter S. Mackey Secretary of the Rochester
I Fire Department Relief Association, requesting the approval of an
additional, loan of $400.00 to Frank Springer , was read,, and President
Liddle referred the same to the Finance Committee:

Southwest from Broadway Street to the Fourth Avenue Southwest sewer lifts E

Upon motion by Moody second by Amundsen, the City Clerk was
instructed to prepare a resolution to be submitted at the next meeting of
the Co:.Mon-Council calling a hearing on the Construction of a trunk line
sanitary sewer in Sixth Street Southwest from Broadway to Fourth Avenue ,

Upon motion by Lemmon second by Amundsen, the City Engineer and the
Street and Alley Committee of the Common Council were 0equested to toner with the
Commissioner. of Highways of the State of Minnesota, regarding the type of pavement
on Broadway which the Highway Department would accept, and also a written, assurance
as to what portion of the cost the State of Minnesota would adsume.
The following committee report was read, and President Liddle ordered
that the same be placed on file:

Alderman Amundsen introduced the following resolution which was read:
"Be it resolved by the Common Council of the City of RochestergMinnesot :
That the bid and proposals of the parties hereafter named for the
furnishing of 700 feet of fire hose for use in the Fire Department of said City, in
accordance with the specifications. for said hose which are now on file in the offic
of the City Clerk of said -City, viz:
?` 200 feet Bi-Lateral fire hose from the Bi-Lateral Fire Hose Company at $1000 per
foot; surety bond to be given $200.00;
200 feet, Special brand fire hose from the Central Fire Hose Company at $.88 per
foot; surety bond to be given $200:00;
150 feet Crown Brand fire hose from the Manhattan Rubber Manufacturing Division,
at $495 per foot; surety bond to be given $150 00;
150 feet Oneida Brand fire hose from the American LaFrance & Foamite Industries,
Inc., at $.95 per foot; surety bond to be given $150.00;
be and the said bidsand proposals&c- hereby accepted."
Upon motion by Fryer second by Amundsen,that the said resolution be
IIadopted as read, and all voting in favor thereof, President Liddle declared the
said resolution duly passed and adopted.
Upon motion by Green second by Amundsen, all other bids for furnishing
fire hose were re jetted and the City Clerk was authorized to return the certified
. 11 checks which accompanied the rejected bids.

Alderman Moody introduced the following resolution,which was
read:
"WHEREAS, The Common Council of the City of Rochester, Minnesota,,.
has heretofore duly advertised for bids for the purchase of one high
pressure portable steam boiler, and
WHEREAS, Upon the opening of bids only one bid was received,

which under the laws of the state, the City was not authorized to accept,'
and
WHERrAS, the matter having been referred to the Sewer Committee
and the.City Engineer, and
IHIREAS, the said Committee after complete examination, _study
and investigation, has concluded to purchase one- Bros Model 1-A high
pressure portable steam boiler sold by Wm. 1% Ziegler Company, for the
sum of $1588.00, less 2%, and less $300,%00 , allowance on the old boiler of
the City to be traded in; -
NOW THERMREi Be it resolved by the Common Council of the City of
Rochester, Minnesota:
That the Sewer Committee and the City Engineer, bb and they are
