" July 3091938.
Honorable Mayor end Common Council,
City of Rochester, Minnesota.
Gentlemen:
On July lath we made application for license to conduct
auction sale; license was granted on the 18th and we endeavored to
conduct auction sale and did so on the 2r1st and 22nd, finding that
everybody was busy. As it would not pay us to continue throughout
our four days we used only two days of our license granted.
We would appreciate a refund of 020.00 for the two days we
did not use, or to grant two days license for a future sale.
Respectfully,
V. L. Ritter

"August 1,1938
Honorable Mayor and
Common Council
City of Rochester
Rochester, Minnesota
Gentlemen:
We wish to respectfully call to your attention the
advisability of calling for bids for the Christmas street
lighting in the near future. Often times of late years this
matter has been left until October or November and it has been
hurried through. without sufficient time for contractors to
figure the proposition or handle it properly.
If the contracts can be let at this time .a good deal
of worrying about the situation and Chet minute rush will be
avoided.
Respectfully submitted,
ROCHESTER CHAMBER OF COMMERCE
Erwin L. Briese, Secretary."
