BE ' IT THEREFORe.- resolved that the following requests and
recommendations be and the same .are hereby made to the Common Council
of the City of Rochester and the '.admini-strative .officers thereof:
One: That ordinance No488 providing that oil stations shall be
allowed only two twenty-two-.f9et,driveways be°strictly enforced, and;
Two: That curbs and gutters -be replaced where driveways have been
established in excess of ordinance provisions,•and;
Three: That the two-hour parking ordinance be- endorced on a year-
round' basis, and;
Four: That. the two -:hour zone.be bxtended to include
a. South Broadway between 4tfi Street & 5th Street S.E. and S.W.
b. First Ave.,S.�W.. between 4th Btreet S.W. & 5th Street S.W.
c. The south side of 2nd Street S.W. from 1st Ave. S.W. to
2 dAYe S.W

d. Fourth Street .S.E. from South Broadway to the Zumbro River bridge.
And that proper sig}is establishing these extensions of the two-hour zone
u: be erected, and;
= Five: That fire hydrants located in the centers of blocks on
E
Broadway be removed, and;
Six: That a.parking,space be provided in South West Mayo Park in the K
area bounded by 2nd Street S.E. on the South, First Ave. , S.E. on the west,
2nd Ave-9 'S,.E. on the East and private property on the North, and.;
Seven: Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be
presented to the Common Council of the City of Rochester.

A communication from the Executive Secretary of the League of
Minnesota Municipalities announcing a short course for sewer operators to
be held at the University March 17th to 19th, was, read, and on motion by
Lemmon 'second by Richman, the matter was referred ,to the Sewer Committee
IIof the Common Council with authority to.send such delegates as the Committee
II sees fit.
A communication from the Employers Liability Assurance Corpora-
tion,' requesting that the surety bond issued in behalf of Melvin"B. Lee and
dated' April 9th,19379 be returned to Herbert G. Knopp, local agent, was read,
and upon motion by*Lemmon second by Green the said request was granted and the
City Clerk authorized to return said bond.
. A cipy of .a resolution passed and adopted by the Public Library
Board of the City of Rochester, acgeptiing the bid of Mayo Properties Associa-
tion for the purchase of the old library property for the sum of $41,100.00
was read, and President Liddle ordered that the .same be placed on file.

An application signed by Philip Sternberg for, a permit to ' place
and maintain a sign at 16 Third Street Southwest, was read', and on
motion by Green second*by Richman' permit` Bras, granted. •
An application signed by Neil D. Adams 'fbr plumbers license,
together with a surety bond in the `sun- of l$i 000.00 with, the Fidelity & C
Casualty Company of New York as surety thereon, were_ each separately
read, and on motion by Moody, second by 'Amundsen,-: the- liaens'e was .
granted, the bond ' apRroved, t he surety -thereon accepted, an&i It wV►s;
ordered that the. bond. be, placed. on .Pile.
An application signed by:Ed. T. Connolly for a plumbers license
together with a surety bond,in the•sum of $19000.00•with the Fidelity
& Casualty Comparq of!New York as gurety thereon, were each separately
read, and upon motion -by Amundsen'sec-ond by Moody, the license was
granted, the bond approved, the -,-surety ,there;on -accepted, !and it was .
ordered that the bond be placed `on file. '
An application signed by Arthur A.Brown for an electrician's
license was read, and on motion by Fryer"'s'econd by Green, license
was granted and the City Clerk authorized to issue said license -on the

filing of a satisfactory surety bond..
• The surety bond of the -Poster Mraohek,: Electric Company, in the
sum of $1,000.00, with the Fidelity & Deposit Company of Maryland as
surety, covering their electrician's license, was -read, and .on motion`'
by Green second by Richman, the,bond was.' approved, the surety thereon
accepted, and it . was ordered that the same 'be -placed on file.
'A com unicstioii sithed , by J. CO- Adams, of the Town- Taxi Company,
7requesting the transfer of taxicab lloense No.15 from a Buick Sedan
bearing state license No.216 400, to a Chevrolet Sedan bearing state
license No.469 6789 was read, and on motion by Richman second by

Mr. J. P. 'Mackey was before the•Coancil regarding the extension
of Ninth Street Southeast, Ninth .Place Southeast, and Slatterly Park drive-
way offering to' donate- the necessary land for said extensions with the con-
dition that the City --of - Rochester `make certain street improvements. President
Liddle referred the matter to the Street and Alley Committee and the City
Engineer.
Alderman Moody introduced the following resolution, which was

"WHEREAS, The Public Library Board of the City of Rochester,
Minnesota, pursuant t& advertisement heretofore made have received a bid
from Mayo Properties Association in the sum of $41,100.00 to be paid April
lst919389 for the purchase of Lot . 5 and the east 36 feet of Lot 6, in Block
18, of the Original Plat of .the City of Rochester, known as the old ilibrary
property, :and
WHEREAS, the said Library Board,
by resolution dated February
10th,
1938, did determine that.said price is
adequate and that it be to the

said bid be accepted, and
WHEREAS, The said Library Board
in said resolution requested

Council of the City -of Rochester, Minnesota:
That the action of the said Public Library Board be and the

aut4orized and instructed . to execute in behalf of the .City of Rochester a deed
of conveyance conveying to said Mayo Properties Association the above descrihed
real estate. "
Upon motion by Richman, second by Moody, that the said resolution
be adopted as read, and all voting,in favor thereof, President Liddle declared

Alderman Fryer introduced a resolution approving the action of

the Public Utility Board in entering into the contract with the John A.Clark
Electric Company for the furnishing of three 100 KVA transformers for a lump

the -said Comptroller with a certified copy of this resolution and

Alderman Green introduced &.resolution ordering a hearing for
