Gentlemen:
Mr. I.V.Wurst has asked me to present to you for payment
the attached statement of $33.26, which is for one tire for his
truck. He tells me•that while the truck was being operated on
Eleventh Avenue Northeast near Second Street and while passing over
a manhole the cover gave way ruining the tire, which necessitated
his purchasing a new one. I would appreciate it if you would place
this matter in line for payment.
Very truly yours,
James T.Spillane."

Gentlemen%
In accordance with your request that this office make a
report to you regarding the 1937 assessment on personal property of
Mrs. T. E. Barber, we beg to advise that this assessment was rechecked
by two of our deputies and the total reduced from $1872.00 to $1588.00.
We are enclosing a copy of our checking list to show you
how we arrive at our assessment and we believe it to be fair.

Mr. Barber, in addition to an assessment on personal household
furniture also has. an assessment on personal property used in three
businesses, namely; Apartments, furnished rooms and dealing in and re-
conditioning antique furniture. The comparisons which he makes with
other taxpayers are not justified because the assessments which he refers to
are on household furniture only.
You will note on the back of Mr. Barber's listing'sheets that he
claims to 4ave one hundred and fifty.pigces of Old Antique Furniture
which our deputies did not assess. If these pieces of Antique Furniture j
were included the ..assessment would be mgtexia1ly.larg8r. j
