HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution No. 474-15 - Airport Bonding Request CustomsPrjctRESOLUTION WHEREAS, the process of submitting requests for State of Minnesota Capital Bonding Funds requires communities to provide a resolution of support from the governing body of the applicant; and, WHEREAS, the City -owned Rochester International Airport has been notified by the Department of Homeland Security that the current Customs and Border Patrol facilities at the Airport do not meet the federal standards for safety, security, or the processing of international passengers; and, WHEREAS, the Rochester International Airport is the second busiest passenger airport in Minnesota, and the continued ability of the Airport to receive international and other passengers impacts the statewide and regional economy; and, WHEREAS, the improvement of facilities to address Customs and Border Patrol operations and other facility improvements at the Airport are of statewide and regional significance. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City of Rochester hereby states its strong support for the 2016 Capital Bonding request to address Customs and Border Patrol facility needs and other airport facility improvements needs as the City's number one bonding priority for 2016.
