HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution No. 399-16 - CityOwnedArmoryProperty.ReuseActionsRESOLUTION BE IT RESOLVED by the Common Council of the City of Rochester that the City reject the two proposals that were received for the reuse of the Armory Building. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City authorize City staff to obtain separate appraisals for the Armory building with those historic preservation restrictions that exist and for the parking area. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City authorize the marketing of the Armory property for sale through the end of 2016 or as subsequently extended by the Council. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that, as part of the marketing of the Armory property, the City authorize the inclusion of the following condition: "The sale of the Armory must include terms to require that the new owners use the Secretary of the Interior Standards for the Adaptive Reuse of Historic Structures for all renovation work and to require the building will always remain on the National Register of Historic Place." BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City authorize City staff to obtain proposals for the services of a commercial real estate broker to market the Armory property. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that if the City decides to sell the Armory building, it will offer the arts and cultural community the first opportunity to purchase the building. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Armory building must be maintained on the National Register of Historic Places.
