RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, the process of submitting requests for State of Minnesota Capital
Bonding Funds requires communities to provide a resolution of support from the
governing body of the applicant; and,
WHEREAS, the City recently adopted a Transit Development Plan which will
guide the City’s transit system for the next five years; and,
WHEREAS, the plan calls for a longer service day, more night routes, Sunday
and holiday service, and ultimately more frequency of buses and more opportunities for
people to ride transit; and,
WHEREAS, in order to implement the plan additional buses will be required and the
number of buses will exceed the amount of indoor bus storage that the City currently has
and without the adequate bus storage it will be difficult to expand the fleet and implement
the expanded service identified in the Transit Development Plan.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City of Rochester hereby states
its strong support for the 2018 Capital Bonding request to address Rochester Public
Transit facility needs as one of the City’s bonding priority for 2018.
